About the role

G Mining Ventures is looking for an Analytical Laboratory Manager to join the Process/Metallurgy team at the Oko West Project in Guyana. The manager ensures that mine, exploration, process, metallurgical and environmental samples are prepared, analysed, validated and reported safely, accurately and on time, supporting production, process control, engineering, geology, exploration and environmental activities. The position is a temporary contract for the duration of the construction, with a rotation of 23 days on and 19 days off.

Key responsibilities

  • Run the laboratory daily, set priorities, schedules and turnaround targets with Operations, Processing, Geology, Exploration, Metallurgy and Environmental teams.
  • Maintain the quality management system (certified reference materials, blanks, duplicates, check assays, control charts, proficiency testing, nonconformance investigations).
  • Review, validate and authorise results before release, and maintain analytical methods, SOPs and work instructions.
  • Manage onsite environmental testing and coordinate external accredited laboratories, including chain of custody and turnaround monitoring.
  • Plan staffing, recruit, train and supervise lab personnel, and keep competency records.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental laws and procedures, and run safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Maintain instrument calibration and preventive maintenance programmes, and manage reagent and inventory stock.
  • Manage operating and capital budgets, prepare reports and investigate disputed results or analytical failures.

Required profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related science; an Assayer qualification may substitute with significant hands-on experience.
  • At least 7 years in a mining, mineral-processing or geochemical lab, including 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in FIFO operations and/or remote mine sites is an asset; previous mine development or operating experience is also an asset.
  • English written and spoken.

Required skills

  • Precious-metal assaying (fire assay, AAS, ICP) and environmental water testing.
  • Laboratory QA/QC principles and LIMS and electronic chain-of-custody systems.
  • Data analysis, statistics and interpretation of analytical trends.
  • Leadership, communication and prioritisation skills.

Applications (CV and cover letter) are due by 20 September 2026; the position is open to local and international candidates, with preference for qualified Guyanese applicants.
