Rigger - OKO Gold Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. As part of this large-scale project, GMIN is hiring an experienced Rigger. The Rigger directs the movement of heavy machinery and equipment and ensures clear communication between operators and ground personnel to keep sites safe and operations efficient.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with equipment operators by hand signals, two-way radios or other tools to direct the movement of heavy machinery.
• Ensure all machinery operates within established safety protocols and local regulations.
• Signal operators on loading, unloading and other heavy equipment operations.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors, operators and team members on safety matters.
• Monitor job site conditions and report obstacles or hazards.
• Observe equipment movements and signal to prevent collisions or damage.
• Verify equipment meets manufacturer and safety standards.
• Record and report safety violations, accidents or incidents according to company policy.
• Assist with loading, unloading or setup when needed and keep the work area organised and clear of debris.
• Collaborate with supervisors on workflow and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Rigging certification.
• At least 6 months of experience on construction or mining projects.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Strong situational awareness and quick assessment of the job site.
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to react to emergencies.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in varied weather and environments.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
