Security Monitoring Officer - Oko Gold Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. The Security Monitoring Officer monitors the mine site in real time using electronic security systems such as CCTV, alarms and access control software, detects suspicious activity, ensures compliance with access protocols and supports emergency response coordination. The position is based at the OKO Project site.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor live CCTV feeds, alarm systems and access control systems to ensure site security.
• Identify and report unauthorized access, safety violations and suspicious activities.
• Maintain real-time logs of significant incidents and escalate them to the Security Lead or Supervisor.
• Respond promptly to alarms and coordinate with ground security officers for physical verification.
• Track and control access permissions for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Check that surveillance and monitoring equipment is functional.
• Support emergency response by providing camera footage and coordinating site communication.
• Record footage and keep secure logs for incident investigations or legal review.
• Help implement and review security protocols and standard operating procedures.
• Liaise with Operations, HSE and HR to enforce site access policies consistently.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security or surveillance training preferred.
• At least 2 years' experience in a security monitoring or control room role, preferably at a mine, industrial or remote site.
• Attention to detail, strong multitasking and calmness under pressure.
• Good written and verbal communication, technical competence with digital security systems and Microsoft Office, and a strong sense of ethics and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Familiarity with CCTV, access control software and alarm systems.
• Familiarity with radio communication procedures.
