Security Officer - Oko Gold Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West gold project in July 2024; the project is a new gold discovery about 95 km west of Georgetown in northwest Guyana. The Security Officer ensures the safety and security of all personnel, equipment and infrastructure at the mine site, including monitoring access points, patrolling, enforcing site policies and responding to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control access to the mine site, allowing only authorised personnel and vehicles.
• Carry out regular foot and vehicle patrols of the perimeter, buildings and critical areas.
• Operate security systems such as CCTV, alarms and radio communications.
• Report and document incidents such as theft, trespassing or safety violations.
• Respond to emergencies and assist with evacuations or first response situations.
• Enforce company rules, safety protocols and applicable regulations.
• Support investigations by gathering evidence, statements and maintaining logs.
• Ensure compliance with visitor and contractor sign-in/out procedures.
• Escort high-value assets, sensitive materials or personnel when required.
• Help maintain good relationships with employees, contractors and the local community.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in security, preferably in mining, industrial or remote site environments.
• Military, police or security services background is an advantage.
• Vigilant, alert and detail oriented, with excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Able to work independently and within a team.

Required skills

• Familiarity with basic report writing and incident documentation.
• Operation of CCTV, alarms and radio communications.
