Survey Assistant

About the role

The Survey Assistant supports the Surveyor directly in carrying out surveying activities across the mining operation. The role focuses on fieldwork, equipment handling, measurements and site marking under the guidance and supervision of the Surveyor.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Surveyor during land, construction and mine surveys.
• Carry and set up survey equipment such as total stations, GPS units, levels, tripods and prisms.
• Take measurements and readings as directed by the Surveyor.
• Help mark survey points, boundaries, centerlines and reference markers on site.
• Support survey set-out for roads, buildings, pits and other mine infrastructure.
• Record field notes and measurements accurately, and assist with basic calculations and data entry when required.
• Maintain survey tools and ensure equipment is stored and handled properly.
• Follow site safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.

Required profile

• Secondary school completion and a driver's license.
• Willingness to work outdoors and in a mining environment.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Previous experience as a survey helper, laborer or field assistant is an advantage.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Required skills

• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Physical ability to work outdoors and handle equipment.
• Basic training or exposure to surveying, construction or mining is an asset.
