Auto Electrician - Oko West Gold Mine

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. It is looking for an experienced, safety-focused Auto Electrician to join its mobile maintenance team at the mine site. You will diagnose, repair and maintain the electrical systems of heavy mobile equipment, light vehicles and ancillary equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults in the electrical systems of heavy mobile equipment such as CAT and Komatsu machines.
• Maintain lighting systems, wiring, alternators, starters, batteries and air conditioning systems.
• Install and maintain mine-specific safety systems such as two-way radios, proximity detection systems and vehicle monitoring systems.
• Carry out preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing to minimise breakdowns.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, manuals and technical drawings.
• Ensure all work is safe and complies with site procedures, standards and statutory regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report defects promptly.
• Collaborate with mechanical fitters, plant operators and other tradespeople, and take part in toolbox talks and safety meetings.

Required profile

• Technical certificate in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in mining or industrial operations.
• Exposure to open-pit mining environments is highly desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team in remote or challenging conditions.

Required skills

• Familiarity with diagnostic software and modern fleet management systems.
• Electrical troubleshooting and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment.
