Rodbuster / Steel Bender

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. The company is hiring an experienced, safety-conscious Rodbuster/Steel Bender for its construction team. The role covers the accurate placement, assembly and securing of rebar and steel reinforcement on construction projects such as buildings, roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lay out, cut, bend and tie rebar and steel reinforcement according to blueprints and project specifications.
• Assemble steel reinforcement cages, mats and other structures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications to ensure accurate placement and alignment.
• Follow all safety regulations and wear PPE, keeping the worksite clean and safe.
• Coordinate with other trades and construction workers.
• Operate hand tools, power tools and other machinery safely for bending, cutting and positioning rebar.
• Ensure rebar placement meets industry standards and help with general construction duties such as organising materials.

Required profile

• Technical certificate or equivalent experience in construction or steel work.
• At least 2 years of experience in construction projects or mining.
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, lifting heavy materials and standing or bending for long periods.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and good communication skills.

Required skills

• Reading blueprints and schematics.
• Precise measurement and cutting of rebar.
• Use of hand and power tools for rebar assembly and placement.
