Telehandler Operator

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) operates the Oko West gold project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown. The Telehandler Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a telescopic handler to support construction activities at the site, moving and placing materials in line with project requirements while complying with safety standards and site policies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the telehandler to move, lift and position materials, tools and equipment as directed.
• Carry out pre-operational checks, inspections and routine maintenance on the telehandler.
• Assist in loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring proper handling and placement of materials.
• Work with site supervisors, riggers and other operators to carry out tasks safely and efficiently.
• Maintain clear communication with ground personnel by hand signals or radio.
• Follow and enforce site safety procedures, including the use of PPE and company policies.
• Report defects, hazards or incidents immediately to supervisors.
• Park, secure and store the equipment safely when not in use.
• Support general construction tasks when the telehandler is not needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certification is an asset.
• Ability to work in remote mining environments and adapt to challenging site conditions.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
• Strong teamwork and coordination with construction crews.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in rugged, high-risk environments.

Required skills

• Safe lifting, rigging and load-handling techniques.
• Telehandler operation.
