Mobile Mechanic - Oko West Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. The company is looking for an experienced, safety-focused Mine Site Mechanic to join its mobile maintenance team. The role covers inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of heavy mobile equipment and machinery used in mining operations, and is based at the OKO Project site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance and unscheduled repairs on haul trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, graders and drilling equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
• Carry out regular equipment inspections and document findings.
• Replace or repair faulty parts such as transmissions, engines, brakes and hydraulic components.
• Maintain accurate service records and complete job cards and reports.
• Collaborate with operators and other maintenance staff to prioritise repairs.
• Follow site safety procedures, protocols and environmental regulations, and support continuous improvement in maintenance.
• Take part in toolbox talks, safety meetings and training as required.

Required profile

• Technical qualification as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience in mining or industrial operations.
• Proven experience on CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi or similar mining equipment.
• Physically fit to work in a mining environment.

Required skills

• Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems (e.g. SAP, CMMS) is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
