Senior Project Associate (Legal Identity)

About the role

Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator and direct supervision of the National Project Officer, the Senior Project Associate will support the design, implementation and oversight of activities that enable migrants in Guyana to obtain legal identity and civil documentation. The role is based in Georgetown and focuses on ensuring that documentation processes are timely, accessible and rights‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with civil registry offices, immigration authorities, consular services and other relevant stakeholders to identify and remove documentation barriers.
• Monitor individual case progress, maintain accurate records and prepare regular status reports.
• Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops and training sessions on legal identity procedures.
• Support the development and strengthening of identity‑management processes and data systems.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to migrants and partner agencies throughout the documentation process.

Required profile

• School diploma with at least six years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields with four years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven experience working with national governmental authorities, UN agencies, NGOs or international institutions.
• Experience supporting migrants, refugees or displaced persons in accessing civil documentation.
• Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
