Assay Lab Labourer

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) operates the OKO West gold project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown. The Assay Lab Labourer supports safe and timely sample processing through material handling, basic sample-preparation tasks, housekeeping, stocking and cleaning, working under approved procedures and direct supervision. The role is entry-level and reports administratively to the Assay Lab Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, move, organize, stage and store samples, consumables, supplies and waste as directed, keeping sample identification and segregation intact.
• Perform basic sample-preparation tasks such as tray handling, drying support, bag handling, cleaning and labeling, after completing the required training.
• Help with housekeeping, spill response, waste segregation, stocking and orderly storage of laboratory materials.
• Clean approved laboratory tools, accessories, work surfaces and containers following contamination-control procedures.
• Move and replenish consumables, crucibles, cupels, sample bags, kraft paper, PPE and cleaning materials.
• Follow laboratory procedures, safety instructions, sample-identification rules and supervisor directions, and report damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, spills or missing sample labels immediately.
• Take part in safety meetings, training, competency assessments and continuous improvement activities, and support teamwork and internal customer service.

Required profile

• Entry-level position; previous assay laboratory, sample preparation, industrial, warehouse or mine-site experience is preferred but not required.
• Previous assay laboratory experience listed as a qualification.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions, identify sample labels, keep work areas orderly and work safely around industrial laboratory equipment.
