Naval Mechanical Engineer (Shipbuilding / CNC Plasma)

About the role

Gatesource HR is recruiting a Naval Mechanical Engineer to support vessel construction, marine fabrication and production operations in the Caribbean. The engineer prepares engineering drawings, develops CNC cutting programs and assists with fabrication and mechanical system integration.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review marine engineering and fabrication drawings using CAD software.
• Develop CNC plasma cutting programs using CAM software such as ProNest.
• Support fabrication, welding and production teams during vessel construction.
• Optimize material usage, cutting efficiency and production workflows.
• Maintain technical records, production reports and engineering documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, marine regulations and quality requirements.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Marine, Mechanical or Naval Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in shipbuilding, fabrication or heavy industry.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills.

The work takes place in a shipyard or marine fabrication environment with exposure to heavy equipment and welding, combining office-based engineering tasks and on-site production support. A competitive package is offered.
