Process Safety Engineer

About the role

A Process Safety Engineer is sought to join a team in the oil and gas sector in Georgetown, Guyana. The role ensures compliance with process safety standards, identifies and mitigates operational risks, and implements safety management systems that protect personnel, equipment and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems
• Conduct risk assessments, HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA and What-If analyses
• Monitor and analyse process safety metrics and incident trends
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and maintenance teams to improve safety performance
• Investigate process-related incidents and recommend corrective actions
• Provide training and technical support on process safety practices
• Support audits and regulatory inspections

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in process safety within the oil and gas industry
• Demonstrated experience in PSM programmes and risk assessment methodologies
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
• Certification in functional safety or process safety (e.g. CFSE, TUV) is an asset; Guyanese nationals are strongly encouraged to apply
