ABS Welder

About the role

A skilled, safety-focused ABS welder is sought to fabricate, cut, fit, modify and repair metal and steel structures, equipment and piping as directed. The welder also oversees hot work activities such as welding, cutting and grinding, ensuring they meet safety and operational requirements. The role is based in Georgetown, Guyana.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the company's Code of Conduct and support policies, and contribute to continuous improvement of HSE policies, the Valaris Management System and regulatory requirements.
• Carry out work to the satisfaction of internal and external customers, aiming to get it right the first time.
• Act as a safety leader, identifying hazards and implementing controls, with a focus on Permit to Work, isolation and hot work procedures.
• Lead hot work jobs onboard the vessel, knowing the vessel layout and its dangers.
• Keep the welder shop tidy and maintain welding equipment, spares and materials to the minimum needed.
• Plan, organise, supervise and execute welding jobs in line with client requirements and contracts, without interfering with well programmes.
• Inform the Chief Engineer and other department heads of technical issues affecting safe operation, and report work status at the end of each shift.

Required profile

• Valid 6GR certificate from a recognised institute (mandatory).
• Minimum of two years of offshore experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid TBOSIET with CA-EBS.
• Valid OGUK/OEUK medical certificate.
