Assistant Crane Operator - Offshore

About the role

An offshore operator in Guyana is looking for Assistant Crane Operators to support its offshore operations. The successful candidate assists the Crane Operator with safe and efficient lifting and cargo handling, and supports the Roustabout team in daily deck activities. Working as a senior member of the Roustabout crew, the Assistant Crane Operator ensures lifting operations follow company procedures, client requirements and offshore safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect rig safety apparatus and equipment under the direction of the Crane Operator, and train personnel to do so.
• Ensure lifts are within load limits, correctly rigged and that lifting gear is colour-coded before use.
• Follow lock-out, tag-out procedures and the company Permit to Work system.
• In the absence of the Crane Operator, operate the crane to hoist materials and equipment onto the rig and ocean vessels, and confer with the OIM and boat captain on sea and weather conditions.
• Assist in organising, planning and monitoring Roustabout work, and train them on tie-off methods and lifting techniques.
• Perform preventive maintenance on the crane, supervise cleaning and painting, and keep crane record books up to date.
• Stay in radio contact with Roustabouts, attend safety meetings, and keep housekeeping tidy.

Required profile

• Valid TBOSIET with CA-EBS and current medical certification.
• Current Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 certification.
• At least 3 years' experience as a certified Crane Operator Assistant; prior offshore experience preferred.
• Willingness to work over open water and at heights.
