Crane Operator - OKO Gold Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) operates the OKO West gold project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown. As part of its large-scale project, it is hiring an experienced Crane Operator to run and maintain cranes used in construction, manufacturing and heavy lifting. The position is based at the OKO Project site, fly-in/fly-out, with a 14 days on / 7 days off schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mobile, tower and overhead cranes to lift, move, position and place heavy materials, equipment and structures.
• Maintain the crane and carry out regular inspections to ensure safety and functionality.
• Follow safety procedures such as securing loads, inspecting rigging and checking equipment before use.
• Communicate with the site supervisor, riggers and other crew members to position loads accurately.
• Keep accurate logs of crane operations, maintenance and inspection reports.
• Adjust crane operations according to site or weather changes, follow site directions and use safety gear in line with OSHA standards.
• Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues and report major ones to maintenance; take part in safety meetings and training.

Required profile

• Valid crane operator certification.
• At least 2 years of proven experience operating cranes in construction or industry.
• Knowledge of crane types, lifting techniques, load charts and safety procedures.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, stand for long periods, climb and occasionally lift heavy loads.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
