Field Architect - Oko West Gold Mine

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West gold project in July 2024, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown. GMIN is hiring a Field Architect to combine detailed architectural design with on-site supervision of industrial and administrative buildings. The role begins with designing plans and moves to on-site supervision, with a 2-year contract covering the engineering and construction period, and a possible permanent position once the mine is operational.

Key responsibilities

• Design detailed architectural plans for offices, warehouses, process plants and worker accommodation, ensuring they are functional, safe and compliant with Guyana's building codes and safety standards
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, structural and electrical teams and include environmental and sustainability considerations
• Work with project management and construction teams on schedules, resources and materials, and review technical documents such as material specifications and quality assurance plans
• Supervise construction on site, coordinate with contractors and subcontractors, run quality control and material inspections, and resolve design or construction issues
• Report on architectural progress and maintain records of design changes and field modifications
• Enforce GMIN's safety standards and local and international safety regulations

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related field
• 5+ years of architectural design and construction experience, preferably on industrial or large-scale projects
• Experience in both design and field supervision, and willingness to relocate to the mine site for long periods during construction
• Ability to work in a remote, site-based environment under challenging conditions
• Preferred: mining, industrial or heavy construction experience, familiarity with Guyana's environmental, safety and regulatory requirements, and previous remote work

Required skills

• Architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp
• Strong communication and leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team
