Marine Mechanic (Ship Repair / Vessel Construction)

About the role

Gatesource HR is looking for an experienced Marine Mechanic to support ship repairs, drydock works and vessel construction in the Caribbean. The successful candidate will carry out mechanical repairs, installations and overhauls on a variety of vessels and shipyard projects.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain marine mechanical systems onboard and in the workshop
• Carry out repairs during drydock periods and alongside maintenance works
• Support vessel construction, including machinery installation and outfitting
• Perform overhauls on engines, pumps, valves, piping systems and auxiliary equipment
• Work closely with machining, engineering and electrical teams
• Complete job reports and support testing and commissioning
• Follow safety procedures and shipyard work standards at all times

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Marine/Mechanical/Diesel Mechanics (or equivalent)
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ship repair or marine maintenance
• Experience in shipyard or drydock environments is an advantage

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work under pressure
