Marine Propulsion Specialist (Inspection, Fitting, Commissioning)

About the role

Gatesource HR is hiring a skilled Propulsion Expert to lead and support propulsion system repairs, upgrades and installations across ship repair and drydock operations. The role suits someone with strong experience in shaftline works, propulsion troubleshooting and technical supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair propulsion and drivetrain system faults
• Lead inspection and repair of shaftline, bearings, seals, couplings and stern tube systems
• Support propeller and steering system repairs and installation activities
• Perform alignment checks and support commissioning and trials
• Plan and supervise propulsion works during drydock operations
• Coordinate with engineering, machining and electrical teams
• Produce technical reports, inspection findings and job close-out documents

Required profile

• Qualification in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience in propulsion repair and shipyard operations
• Ability to lead technicians and manage critical repair scopes
