Rodperson - Oko Gold Project

About the role

G Mining Ventures (GMIN) acquired the Oko West project, a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana about 95 km west of Georgetown, in July 2024. To support this large-scale project, GMIN is hiring a Rodperson for its Mine Maintenance Department. The Rodperson assists with the installation, maintenance and inspection of mining equipment and infrastructure, ensuring equipment runs optimally and supporting ongoing maintenance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the inspection, maintenance and repair of mining equipment such as pumps, conveyors and ventilation systems.
• Install, maintain and inspect rods used in mining operations, in line with safety and operational standards.
• Work with maintenance technicians and engineers on preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections and repairs, and help track equipment performance and parts inventory.
• Follow safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.
• Identify equipment issues and report them to the supervisor; provide daily updates on maintenance projects.
• Handle tools and equipment safely and work with the maintenance team, contractors and other departments.

Required profile

• High school diploma.
• Previous experience in mining, construction or a maintenance-related field is preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials and tools, and to work in confined or challenging environments.
• Knowledge of mining safety practices; previous safety certification is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of mining equipment, tools and maintenance procedures.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
